I dont lend books...

...so says Pingu...- a self-confessed book addict and book collector. She is quite the martinet when it comes to lending books. See what she has to say on the subject:

....Even when I very graciously, on very rare occasions, agree to lend someone a book; I, like a veritable pain in the neck, keep repeating my set of instructions on ‘How to Hold a Book While Reading.’

Yes, there are certain rules to be followed:

* The book must be covered in a temporary newspaper or brown paper cover.
* While reading the odd-numbered pages, one can/must hold

I'm sooo happy to have met a fellow book lover :)

Thanks a zillion Visitor for considering my post worthy of a link in Kathambamaalai and this post - I’m honoured :)

And for Barankin’s Fantasy World - I just can’t thank you enough!!! I luvvvvvv Russian writers and illustrators!

Have u heard of Nikolai Nosov? I’m sure you’ll love “Rat-a-tat-tat”. I first came across it in my school library and after renewing it five times was forced to return it. I never thought the book would be out-of-print. After a few years, I finally got a friend’s sis - a junior in my school, to borrow it and managed to take a colour xerox of the entire book! :D

It is sad that so many wonderful books are now out of print. I have been searching high and low for William Saroyan’s “My name is Aram” and E.V. Lucas and Ellery Queen for more than a decade now without success...
I do have the option of buying such books online from a used books store and having it shipped but it costs a fortune! An alternative would be to get a friend in the U.S to do the hunting and bring it over on his/her next visit :)

After a relentless search in second-hand book shops in Delhi and Madras, I finally found The Roman Hat Mystery… So I still have hope of finding the rest :)
